Alexandria, like all cities, was constructed over time, each period leaving behind its individual traces. To understand and appreciate the complexity of this city, it is of utmost importance to know its origin story.
Interpretation is a process, which begins with the curiosity to know. This curiosity drove sailors to sail into the unknown in search of new land. This curiosity gave birth to archeologists, who try to unearth the past. It is this same curiosity that needs to become an attitude, in order for the world to keep progressing.
This interpretation center acts as a beacon of knowledge to promote this 'Curiosity as an attitude'. This path begins through the gateway into the city - The railway station and ends with unraveling the past in the form of the dug-up ancient roman ruins.
The path that connects the start and end points, is very crucial as this path in itself is the interpretation. It leads from the public open gardens, into the grand entrance, through layers of information ending upon a portal that connects to the past.
The play of heights and the combination of the covered, semi-covered, and open spaces also create intriguing environments to keep the mind questioning. The more one observes the more one understands.
